Braun rates it for 1-, 3- and 7-day beards, and testers who let their stubble grow found it cleared longer and flat-lying hairs quickly, with few missed patches to go back over. Wirecutter’s tester saw it get through a seven-day beard with no snags or pulling. Men’s Health’s tester, grooming writer Garrett Munce, facing about four days of stubble after the flu, got the same closeness and smoothness as his everyday shave without extra passes.

ShaverCheck rates it mediocre at best, awkward to hold and only effective against the grain, and Shaving Advisor found it does the job on sideburns, but not quickly. For shaping a beard, a dedicated trimmer will do better.
