The one exception is genuine Lightning-case loyalty: if a charging setup is already built around Lightning and MagSafe rather than USB-C, and a real discount brings AirPods 3 below AirPods 5’s price, that flexibility is worth something. Otherwise, buy the newer, cheaper pair.
